- A resident of Asha was sentenced to six years in a penal colony for the death of a child in an accident
A court in the Chelyabinsk region has sentenced a motorist from the city of Asha, who knocked down a mother and her four-year-old son at a crossing, after which he disappeared. This is reported by the regional Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office.
The accident occurred on June 30 on Mira Street. The 67-year-old Chevrolet Niva driver did not slow down in front of an unregulated pedestrian crossing and hit a 24-year-old girl and her four-year-old son.
As a result of the accident, the child suffered multiple fractures, from which he died. The boy's mother was hospitalized with serious injuries, writes the news agency " <url>".
The court found the motorist guilty under paragraph "b" of Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person, associated with leaving the place of its commission") and sentenced him to six years in prison to be served in a penal colony.
The man himself partially admitted his guilt, saying that he could not stop the car because of its malfunction, and he did not leave the accident site because he did not realize that he had hit someone at all. He thought he had touched a package that was in the hands of a pedestrian.
The court also banned him from driving for two and a half years. In addition, the motorist must pay 3.1 million rubles to the girl who lost her son.
