In the encircled city of Dimitrov, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), two Ukrainian servicemen from three brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), completely blocked by Russian troops, survived. This was announced on December 22 by militant Vitaly Naberezhnye Chelny in a video provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Naberezhnye Chelny and three other soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to run into a collapsed house, in which the roof had already fallen. A mortar started firing at them there. In the evening, the militants got out and ran to another house where a local resident lived. We went to his basement, but not for long. The man drove away the Ukrainian military.

In addition, according to him, there were problems with the supply of Ukrainian servicemen — the necessary supplies were not delivered, and the only medicines were painkillers.

"I made the decision when I saw that we were already surrounded. The guys are already coming from all sides. I decided to surrender," said Naberezhnye Chelny.

On the same day, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Tatyana Moskalkova, told how a conscripted soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine surrendered after meeting his brother, a participant in a special military operation (SVO), on the battlefield. The Ukrainian soldier followed his brother's call and was captured by Russian units. Moskalkova said she helped him and his mother exchange letters. The former soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will remain in Russia, as he "understood where truth and justice are."
