More than 4,500 km of roads have been restored in Donbass and Novorossiya in three years, Russian Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin said in an interview with the Lugansk Information Center on December 22.
"A lot of work has been done over the past three years. From 2022 to 2024, more than 4,500 km of highways were restored, including the key federal highway R-280 Novorossiya from the Rostov Region to Simferopol," he said.
According to Nikitin, the amount of federal funding for these purposes amounted to over 270 billion rubles. The Minister stressed that it is planned to expand 309.4 km of the road on the R-280 Novorossiya highway to four lanes by 2030, which will significantly increase its capacity and safety.
"The highway forms a reliable and comfortable land corridor to Crimea, contributing to the redistribution of traffic flows in southern Russia," said the head of the Ministry of Transport.
On August 21, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin was constantly monitoring the situation with the reconstruction of new regions of the country. According to Mishustin, the regions of Donbass and Novorossiya are going through a difficult path, so Russia must restore their infrastructure and create a new urban environment.
