Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the informal CIS summit on December 22, congratulated the leaders of the CIS member states on the upcoming New Year.
"I would like to congratulate all of you, dear friends, on the upcoming new year," he said.
The Russian President wished his colleagues, as well as the citizens of their countries, happiness, peace and prosperity in 2026.
A day earlier, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the Kremlin would send congratulations to US President Donald Trump on New Year and Christmas.
On December 19, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the upcoming Christmas. In addition, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko handed over gifts for Trump and his wife Melania. It was noted that a sophisticated piece of jewelry, Belarusian cornflowers, was prepared for Melania, and an Orthodox icon for Trump himself.
