With the support of Rosneft, the first two halls of the new permanent exhibition "Art Nouveau" have begun work at the Main Headquarters of the State Hermitage Museum. The works of artists from the second half of the 1880s to the end of the 1890s are presented here.

The exhibition is based on objects created by masters of leading European and Russian schools at the turn of the 19th — 20th centuries, from ceramics and jewelry to furniture and tapestries. The curators of the exhibition paid special attention to the collections of art glass presented in the museum's collection.

In the first two halls, visitors can see glass, porcelain and majolica products by Emile Galle and his contemporaries. They are complemented by jewelry created in Russia, France, Belgium, Austria and other European countries. Among the largest exhibits are the William Morris tapestry "Adoration of the Magi", a table with a set top "Flora of Lorraine" by Emile Galle, as well as a desk by the Belgian painter, graphic artist, architect and Art Nouveau theorist Henri van de Velde, purchased specifically for the exhibition at the Headquarters. The exhibition also featured the works of ceramic designer William Moorcroft for the first time to the general public.

Visitors to the exhibition will also see the gifts received by Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna in 1896, during an official visit to France. Among them are two glass vases by Emile Gallet, set in silver by the masters of the leading Parisian jewelry company Bapst and Falise, the Nimes Vase, created at the famous Sevres porcelain manufactory, and a decorative glass mask executed by the sculptor Henri Cros. All these objects belong to the best examples of Art Nouveau art.

In a few years, the new exhibition will occupy five halls. They will open in stages and tell about the creative searches of the 19th century and the ways of the development of Art Nouveau at the beginning of the 20th century.
