Russian cargo ship Adler allowed to leave Swedish waters
The Swedish Prosecutor's Office has decided not to open an investigation into the Russian-flagged Adler vessel, which was suspected of allegedly violating US and European Union (EU) sanctions. The cargo ship was allowed to leave the territorial waters of Sweden, the SVT TV channel reported on December 22.
"The ship is heading north, but has not announced its destination," said Fredrik Strembeck, a spokesman for the Swedish Shipping Authority.
The cargo ship has been anchored in the Heganas area since December 20 after an engine failure. His search was carried out on the night of December 21. Customs officers, coast guards, as well as security police and prosecutors boarded the aircraft.
According to media reports, the owner of Adler is the Russian company M Leasing LLC, which is included in the US and EU sanctions lists.
Earlier, on October 1, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that European countries were obstructing navigation in the Baltic Sea by committing many provocations. According to him, this does not contribute to ensuring freedom of commercial navigation.
