The CIS countries advocate the formation of a new multipolar world order, with the coordinating role of the United Nations. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 22.

"All CIS states unanimously advocate the formation of a just world order based on universally recognized principles of international law with the central role of the United Nations," Putin said at an informal CIS summit.
