The nephew of the actress Barnabas pleaded guilty in court in a fraud case
The nephew of actress Ekaterina Barnabas, Georgy, accused of aiding and abetting telephone fraudsters, fully admitted his guilt and repented in court. This was announced on December 22 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the hall of the Mytishchi City Court of the Moscow region.
George explained that he had accepted the courier job after seeing an offer for a part-time job in the messenger. He was aware that he was transporting funds, but he did not know either the specific amounts or the final amount of his remuneration.
According to investigators, in February 2025, Georgy was supposed to receive 350 thousand rubles from an 87-year-old resident of Mytishchi, who was deceived by a telephone conman. The bank's employees managed to prevent the crime, and Barnabas was arrested while trying to take the fake money.
The man is accused of committing illegal acts under Part 3 of art. 30, Part 3 of art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud")
On December 20, in Tula, a 69-year-old pensioner who sold an apartment under the "Valley scheme" was accused of fraud. In September 2024, a man bought a one-room apartment from a woman, and a few days later, his realtor began receiving threats from the seller's relatives. At the same time, the pensioner contacted the police, saying that she had given the money to the scammers. The buyer wrote a statement, and law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case against the ex-owner of the apartment under Part 4 of Article 159 ("Fraud on an especially large scale").
