The United States is reviewing its participation in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). This was stated on December 22 by Acting Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the OSCE Maxim Buyakevich.

"Another issue is the willingness of Western countries to maintain such a platform for dialogue. <...> Now they (Washington. There is a policy review process underway at the State Department, which evaluates U.S. participation in the OSCE. Demands have already been made for a significant reduction in the organization's budget — by about 10% compared to the level of 2021, and without taking into account inflation," Buyakevich explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the permanent representative, Russia uses its participation in the OSCE as a tool for dialogue with countries with which there are currently various kinds of conflicts of interest.

Buyakevich said on December 21 that European countries had excluded themselves from negotiations with Russia and the United States with their unequivocal position in favor of continuing hostilities. He noted that the American delegation has been silent on the issue of Ukraine for several meetings in a row. According to him, this is due to the ongoing negotiation process. On December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that no one had excluded Europe from negotiations on Ukraine, they themselves had stopped contacts with the Russian Federation.
