ZU-23-2 crews destroyed a heavy copter and a Warmate UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region

Calculations of anti-aircraft installations 23-2 (ZU-23-2) of the Dnepr group of forces destroyed a heavy reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and a Warmate aircraft-type attack UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Zaporizhia region. This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 22.

According to the ministry, the ZU-23-2 crew destroyed Ukrainian aircraft during a combat mission. The drone flight was reported by a unit of the Unmanned Systems Forces (UAVs) during aerial reconnaissance over the Dnieper. It is specified that the mobile crew moved to a prepared position and, coordinating fire with other crews, inflicted a fire defeat on the enemy. The elimination of targets was recorded on objective control footage.

"The enemy takes off almost every day, you have to work every day. It takes about five to six minutes from receiving a command to moving to a position," said the commander of an anti–aircraft artillery platoon with the call sign Ingush.

The commander also noted that aircraft-type UAVs are mostly shot down. The task of his unit is to constantly maintain combat readiness and prevent a breakthrough of Ukrainian aviation in the sky.

The department reported that when forming the calculation, each serviceman undergoes a full course of fire training for all types of weapons available in the unit. Thus, the fighters can replace each other during a combat encounter, which increases the chance of successful completion of the task.

Mobile calculations of ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft installations of the Dnepr group of forces continue to monitor the sky around the clock and in all weather conditions from means of aerial reconnaissance and destruction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Reconnaissance and attack UAVs are regularly destroyed, thereby protecting units of the armed forces of the Russian Federation from the enemy's air threat.

On December 19, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the tankers of the Vostok group of forces had destroyed the temporary deployment points and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Gulyai-Pole. The location of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was noticed in an urban area during aerial reconnaissance by UAV operators, and Ukrainian militants were spotted in buildings. After clarifying the coordinates and assessing the situation, tank crews on T-80BVM tanks moved to the area of the task.
