Iran is seeking to increase trade with Russia and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was stated on December 21 by the Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, in an interview with Izvestia.

"The free trade agreement that we have signed has led to an increase in our trade volume, and we are striving to increase trade with all five countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, especially with Russia," he said.

According to him, Iran considers the EAEU to be a very important union and is serious about expanding relations with the union.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced India's desire to step up the process of preparing a preferential agreement with the EAEU. It was noted that the Indian side expressed its readiness to step up the process of agreeing on this document during Putin's recent state visit to New Delhi.
