The police will check information about deaths and animal cruelty in one of the shelters in the Rostov region. This was announced on December 21 in the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region.

"The duty station of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Aksai district received a report of animal cruelty in one of the shelters in the Rostov region. Police officers arrived at the scene," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.

It is noted that an inspection is currently underway and all the circumstances of the incident are being clarified, after which a decision will be made in accordance with Russian law.

Earlier, on December 2, it was reported that an unknown man had beaten and shot two domestic dogs after their owner refused to pay "compensation" for the dog sniffing his leg. A criminal case was opened into the crime under Part 2 of Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Cruelty to animals").
