- The deputy of the State Duma called the margin of safety the key to Petrosyan's victory at the Russian championship
Figure skater Adelia Petrosyan won the Russian Championship with a margin of safety. This was announced on December 21 by State Duma Deputy Irina Rodnina.
Rodnina stressed that the athlete's victory was not the result of competition, but was due to her stability in the short program and good preparatory results.
"I won the Russian championship due to the safety margin. The issue is not about competition, but about stability," she said in an interview with Metaratings.ru .
The MP also noted that there is a significant burden on Petrosyan during the season and on the eve of the Olympic Games. The athlete has been in excellent physical shape since September, which, according to Rodnina, is a difficult task.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Petrosyan won first place at the Russian Figure Skating Championships for the third time in a row. The competitions are held in St. Petersburg at the Yubileyny sports complex. The champion in women's single skating scored 235.95 points according to the results of the short and free programs. Alisa Dvoeglazova is in second place with 227.40 points, and Maria Zakharova is in third place with 217.73 points.
