Russian President Vladimir Putin is right in his unwillingness to listen to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French leader Emmanuel Macron on the settlement in Ukraine. This was stated on December 20 by British political scientist Mark Galeotti in an article for Spectator magazine, also pointing out the importance for Europe to make contact with Putin.

"If building a peace strategy goes beyond the collective mind and will of Europe, then perhaps Putin is right not to listen to us," Mark Galeotti stressed.

According to him, an important part of the peace settlement process should have been a plan focused on long-term peace in Ukraine, but there is still no such strategy.
