Released in February of this year, the Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk", sold in over 40 countries, is popular at the festival organized by Roskino and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, which is currently taking place in Paris. On December 20, the general director of one of the film production companies Art Pictures Distribution (APD) told Izvestia about this. Anastasia Korchagina.

"The film attracts a large number of viewers every day. This means that they love Russian cinema and want to come to it. The viewer's reaction is actually very emotional and even, I would say, touching," she said.

Korchagina noted that one French woman who came to the show, talking with her, expressed admiration for "Red Silk," which, as the CEO of APD emphasized, is indeed a unique picture shot in an interesting, adventure genre. In Russia, the film, officially included in the program of the Cannes film market Marche du film, collected almost 700 million rubles.

The Izvestia interlocutor noted that in the coming year, in addition to the Cannes Film Festival, they also plan to send these and other films to the Berlin Festival. She recalled that the filming of the second part of "Red Silk" is currently underway — it will be called "Black Silk", the actions in the upcoming film will take place on a ship. According to Korchagina, Russian producers have already examined potential filming locations based in the People's Republic of China (PRC).

"Russian cinema in general has always been a great success in the world and continues to win the hearts of the audience...> They love Russian cinema and want to come to it," she stressed.

The APD press service announced on December 3 that "Red Silk" will be shown in Japan in January 2026. The first commercial satellite channel in Japan, WOWOW, acquired the rights to demonstrate the painting. In parallel with the television release, "Red Silk" will be released on leading Japanese VOD platforms.

"Red Silk" was shown at the Pyongyang International Film Center on October 22. The opening ceremony of the 18th Pyongyang International Film Festival was held, where it won the Grand Prix. The painting was shown on October 10 at the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris. The atmospheric film evening was held to the sounds of an accordion and a Russian balalaika.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
