What is known about the incident

The explosion occurred on December 20 in the Khimki neighborhood of Skhodnya near house No. 1 on Bannaya Street. The identity of the teenager, who died before the ambulance arrived, has not yet been established.

According to the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Moscow region, the cause of the incident was careless handling of an explosive household item.

The condition of the victims

Two people were hospitalized after the explosion. Doctors found multiple wounds to the 15-year-old's face and brachial artery. A woman born in 1974 suffered a mine-explosion injury to the anterior surface of her thigh.

A criminal case has been opened

The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Moscow region has opened a criminal case under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence"). The circumstances of the incident are being established.
