Football player Arshavin commented on FIFA's decision to count Kerzhakov's goal.
On December 20, former Russian national football team player Andrei Arshavin expressed the opinion that he scored the second goal in a friendly match against Germany in 2005, and not the former Zenit football club striker Alexander Kerzhakov.
"I think I scored against Germany. Now we need to call Kerzh (Kerzhakov. — Ed.) to the national team — or better yet, the two of them with [Akron FC striker Artyom] Dzyuba, so that the dispute between them can be resolved, who is better," Sport-Express quotes Arshavin as saying.
It is noted that if the Russian Football Union (RFU) decides to change the authorship of the goal, this will lead to the fact that Dzyuba, who currently holds the record for the Russian national team in the number of goals (31 goals), may share this record with Kerzhakov, who will also have 31 goals.
Earlier in the day, the International Football Federation (FIFA) confirmed that Kerzhakov, not Arshavin, scored for the Russian national team in a friendly match against Germany in 2005. At the same time, Kerzhakov, who received a letter from the organization, sent a request to the RFU for official confirmation.
