Fewer and fewer Germans believe that the German government, led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, will cope with the challenges facing the country. This was confirmed on December 20 by the results of a survey conducted on December 12-15 at the request of the Bild newspaper by the INSA Sociological Institute.

According to the survey, 40% of respondents expect that their personal financial situation will worsen, 41% do not expect any changes, 10% voted that their financial situation will improve, 9% found it difficult to answer.

When asked about confidence in the efforts of the German authorities in economic policy, 58.7% said they did not expect the economy to grow under the current cabinet. A quarter of the respondents said they hoped for an economic recovery, while 16% found it difficult to answer.

On the issue of migration, 31% of respondents assume that the situation will worsen, 41% do not expect changes, 18% hope for positive developments, and 9% are undecided. 1,000 people took part in the survey.

Earlier, on December 17, it became known that Germany had lost more than 70% of supplies to the Russian market after the imposition of sanctions against Russia. It was noted that the amount of exports from Germany to Russia from January to September 2021 amounted to €19.6 billion. While for the same period of the current year, the figure amounted to €5.2 billion.
