Zakharova pointed to the inability of the West to isolate Russia
Despite the West's attempts to isolate the country, citizens from other countries are moving to Russia, in particular, people who support it and want to become part of it. This was stated on December 20 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a speech at the International Catherine Forum in Moscow.
"You open some Western newspaper, turn on a Western TV, a TV program, and hear about what else they have done, invented in order, according to them, to isolate our country. And at the same time, streams of people from all over the world are flocking to us, who not only support us there, in their countries, fighting for sanity in their homeland, but also who want to become part of our country," she said.
According to Zakharova, for some, the desire to move to Russia is "just a vital choice," and for others it is a combination of circumstances that have become salvation. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added that Tara Reid, an ex-assistant to former US President Joe Biden, found herself in a similar situation after receiving a Russian passport.
"She found this salvation in Russia and considers Russia to be the hero of her life, her hero," Zakharova concluded.
American Tara Reid received Russian citizenship on September 22. Before that, in 2023, she had already announced her intention to obtain Russian citizenship. Reed also hoped that State Duma deputy Maria Butina would help her get a Russian passport, then the parliamentarian promised to discuss this topic during a meeting of the International Affairs committee.
