A €90 billion reparation loan, which the European Union (EU) member states promised to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, will result in personal losses of €211 for every Greek citizen. This was announced by the information portal on Friday evening, December 19. Pronews.ru .
"Covering the financial needs of Ukraine <...> it will cost Greece from €1.2 billion to €2 billion <...> Every Greek citizen (population 9.5 million) will be required to pay €211 out of his pocket for Zelensky," the article says.
It also clarifies that Kiev will most likely not be able to repay the interest-free loan provided to it, therefore, those European countries that have agreed to provide finance will have to pay the bill themselves.
A day earlier, the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, announced the decision of the EU summit participant to finance Ukraine in 2026-2027, providing it with € 90 billion. On December 19, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called the loan "wasted money," and Dutch Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders described the loan as "madness."
