- The lawyer informed about the possible deprivation of two apartments in Latvia by Dolina
Singer Larisa Dolina may lose two apartments in Dzintari, Latvia, their total cost is 95 million rubles. Due to the sanctions of the European Union (EU), the singer cannot use her foreign real estate. This was announced on December 19 by lawyer Alexander Benkhin.
"You cannot pay debts even for housing and communal services and you cannot sell real estate. The Latvian Seimas says that it is necessary to nationalize what belongs to sanctioned people. <...> Since debts for housing and communal services are accumulating, the operating company or municipality may sue for non—payment for some time and confiscate property for debts," the lawyer said in an interview with the newspaper "Paragraph".
He noted that an attempt to pay debts through third parties would be considered a criminal offense, as well as the re-registration or sale of apartments through intermediaries. According to Benkhin, the only option to avoid nationalization is to sue the state to lift the sanctions. To do this, Dolina will have to hire a special European lawyer licensed to work with sanctioned persons. At the moment, according to the lawyer, the singer has not taken any steps to resolve this issue.
The Supreme Court recognized the ownership of the Dolina apartment in Khamovniki for the buyer Polina Lurie on December 16. The decision adopted by the Supreme Court entered into force immediately. Earlier, lawyer Andrey Alyoshkin explained that after the decision was made, the singer would have up to 30 days to vacate the apartment. Lawyer Svetlana Sviridenko said that Lurie plans to recover from Dolina the legal costs incurred during the proceedings.
Alexander Khaminsky, a lawyer and head of the Law Enforcement Center in Moscow and the Moscow Region, said that Lurie could seek compensation from Dolina for moral damage. Earlier that day, it became known that the singer had filed a fraud complaint with the police after Lurie had purchased an apartment and was about to move into it. During the session of the Supreme Court, Lurie stated that the singer deliberately sold the apartment in order to buy a more spacious living space.
