The girl who offered to replace Zarubin was invited to the UrFU journalism faculty.
The Faculty of Journalism of Ural Federal University (UrFU) invited a girl on a field trip, who, during a direct line with Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced her readiness to replace journalist Pavel Zarubin when he retires. This was reported to Izvestia on December 19 by the university's press service.
Alexey Fayustov, Acting Dean of the UrFU Faculty of Journalism, noted that the work of the correspondent of the press pool of the head of state is characterized by great responsibility.
"Working in the Kremlin pool is a special responsibility. This requires a good journalism and media education. Our faculty has been famous for this for many years — it is one of the largest in the country and definitely the largest in the Urals. And Pavel Zarubin is our graduate, whom we are certainly proud of," Fayustov said.
He clarified that in 2017, the university introduced a new field of Media Communication training, where the TASS basic department currently operates. Also in 2020, UrFU opened a basic department with the Ural State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, and in 2024 the first stream of students graduated.
"It seemed right to invite the girl to visit us, at least for a tour of the faculty, which will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2026, and at most for the university. Well, when she graduates from school, we will definitely be waiting for her to join us among the applicants in order to master the profession of a journalist," said the acting dean.
Earlier that day, during the "Results of the Year" program, the girl offered to replace journalist Zarubin in his own program, but asked the President of Russia not to leave his post. Putin thanked Victoria for the question and added that Zarubin was "still a young man," so it was not worth "kicking him out" for retirement.
