Mining cryptocurrencies is one of the additional factors contributing to the strengthening of the ruble exchange rate. This was announced on December 19 by the Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina.

"Mining did not appear this year, that is, it is impossible to associate the strengthening of the exchange rate with the fact that it somehow increased dramatically. It did exist, and there must be some kind of increase. Nevertheless, mining is really one of the additional factors of a strong ruble exchange rate. One of the additional factors," she said.

The head of the Central Bank explained that a significant part of this activity remains opaque, which makes it difficult to accurately assess its contribution.
