The state traffic Inspectorate announced mass inspections of drivers
On Friday and the weekend (December 19-21), the State Traffic Inspectorate will conduct massive and continuous checks of drivers, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk motorists. The upcoming raids were announced by the regional departments of the department.
Traffic police will carry out preventive measures on the roads of Pskov, Tver, Samara, Kirov, Ulyanovsk, Tula, Rostov, Smolensk, as well as the Komi Republic and other regions of the country.
"We remind you about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Refuse to travel after drinking alcohol: do not risk your life, as well as the lives of your passengers and other road users. We kindly ask the witnesses to inform the police about drivers who get behind the wheel drunk. The necessary response measures will be taken for all such reports. An active civic position can prevent a tragedy on the road and save someone's life," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.
The ministry recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail disqualification for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver is already facing criminal liability.
Earlier, on December 12, it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation had developed a draft decree of the Government of the Russian Federation providing for amendments to the rules of the road. They are asked to allow the use of "digital" driver's licenses and vehicle documents along with traditional, paper documents.
