Lavrov announced preparations to expand flights between Russia and the resorts of Egypt.

Moscow and Cairo are discussing the expansion of flights between Russia and the resorts of Egypt. This was announced on December 19 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Apty.

"Egyptian resorts have long been one of the favorite foreign vacation destinations for Russians. <...> We are currently preparing to expand direct flights between our country and Egyptian resorts," Lavrov said.

He said that Russia was very interested in regular contacts and invited his Egyptian counterpart to pay a return visit to Russia.

At the same time, the bulk of bookings — almost 86% — are made within Russia.

Earlier in the day, Lavrov said that Russia was grateful to Egypt for its objective and balanced position on Ukraine. The Egyptian Foreign Minister, in turn, noted that Egypt is ready to contribute to any international efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
