The Vozrozhdenie political party in the Bulgarian parliament has spoken out against the decision of the European Union (EU) to allocate a multibillion-dollar loan to Ukraine, which was supported by the Bulgarian government. This was reported by the BTA news agency on December 19.

"The Bulgarian state will donate about BGN 1.2 billion (about €600 million) This will be a gratuitous, interest—free loan to Ukraine," said the party's leader, Kostadin Kostadinov.

In his opinion, Bulgaria will never receive money back from Ukraine, because it will be inconvenient for the EU.

"Ukraine is losing rapidly, and Belgium will never allow these frozen assets to be touched so that there would be no financial catastrophe in the eurozone," Kostadinov explained.

On December 19, the head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, announced that the participants of the European Union summit had decided to finance Ukraine for €90 billion in 2026-2027. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in turn, called this decision "lost money."

Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia refused to participate in granting Ukraine an interest-free loan worth €90 billion following the EU summit on December 19.
