Russia is ready and willing to end the conflict in Ukraine by peaceful means. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the "Results of the Year" on December 19.

"We are ready and want to end this conflict by peaceful means based on the principles that I outlined last June at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and while eliminating the root causes that led to this crisis," the president said on the program.

He noted that despite this, Russia does not see Ukraine's readiness for dialogue and discussion of the territorial issue. The Russian leader recalled that the conflict began with a coup in 2014. According to him, by now Kiev has "thrown into the basket" all agreements and refuses to end the conflict by peaceful means.

In an interview with India Today on December 4, the Russian president recalled the reluctance of residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR, LPR) to be part of Ukraine, which they expressed during the referendum. According to the head of state, Russia tried to build relations between the republics of Donbass and Kiev, but the Ukrainian side refused to recognize them.

A direct line with the president in 2025 is combined with a press conference for the media. The format called "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin" allows the head of state to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and global agenda, which is often asked by journalists.

The direct line has been running since 2001. The event is being held for the fourth time in a combined format with a large press conference.

The latest news about the "Results of the year with Vladimir Putin – 2025" is in the Izvestia story.
