Based on the results of inspections of the work of the customs authorities, the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia revealed violations in monitoring the completeness of calculation and timely payment of the recycling fee for vehicles imported by individuals. This was announced on December 19 by the press service of the supervisory authority.

They stated that the improper verification of the calculations submitted by citizens led to the subsequent additional assessment of the waste collection and the imposition of an additional financial burden in the form of penalties. We are talking about vehicles imported to Russia from Armenia and Kazakhstan.

The customs authorities also untimely assessed the actions of citizens who carried out commercial import of vehicles under the guise of intended for personal use, the agency said.

The Prosecutor General's Office appealed to the head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia with a proposal to adjust the work of customs authorities, ensure proper control and methodological guidance of the work of subordinate territorial departments, the statement said.

Earlier, on December 4, it was reported that 59.8 thousand used cars (older than three years) were imported to Russia in November. This is 83% more than in November 2024. Experts said that such a strong increase is related to the dates of the introduction of new recycling tariffs.
