Flooding has begun in the Gaza Strip due to winter storms, and many locals are still forced to take shelter in tents. This was reported on December 19 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper.

"Winter storms have worsened the already desperate humanitarian situation in Gaza: torrential rains flooded the tents of displaced Palestinians and led to the collapse of damaged buildings," the article says.

According to the newspaper, about 900,000 Palestinians still live in "flimsy tents." The amount of precipitation in the Gaza Strip is twice the average for this time of year.

The Ada Derana portal reported on December 14 that the death toll in Sri Lanka as a result of tropical cyclone Ditva reached 643 people, with another 184 missing. Cyclone Ditva brought with it strong winds and heavy rains. It caused the worst floods in Sri Lanka in the last decade.
