Medvedev commented on the failure of the EU plan to seize Russia's assets
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and leader of the United Russia party, commenting on the situation with Russian assets, announced on December 19 the beginning of a major redistribution of influence in the "European criminal world."
"All this indicates the beginning of a large—scale redistribution of influence in the European criminal world," Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, the European Union (EU) was afraid to openly steal Russian assets, recognizing "the seniority of academics from Washington."
On December 19, EU leaders failed to reach an agreement on the expropriation of frozen Russian assets during the summit. Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever stressed that the refusal to confiscate frozen Russian assets is a victory for international law.
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation will recover damages from European banks in court due to the unlawful blocking and use of its assets. The Central Bank called the European Union's attempts to use Russian assets "illegal" and also stressed that they are currently frozen without the bank's consent.
