The main difficulties in the assault on the settlements of Peschanoe and Gerasimovka in the Dnipropetrovsk region were the open terrain and the crossing of the river. This was told by the soldiers of the assault unit of the 36th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army of the Vostok group of forces. The relevant footage was published on December 19 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

Russian stormtroopers crossed the Gaichur River and began to storm the village of Peschanoe. The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) occupied fortified positions, actively used strong points and unmanned systems, but were dislodged from their points of deployment.

"They were liberating Peschanoe. The barrier was the Gaichur River. The most difficult thing is to overcome it. We found a ford and passed it. The sandy flew in quickly, but the postcards (of the open area. — Ed.)," said a stormtrooper with the call sign Cosmos.

According to the defense Ministry, the approaches to Gerasimovka took place in open areas with the active operation of enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The enemy offered strong resistance.

"The villages of Peschanoe and Gerasimovka were liberated. The difficulty was that the area was mostly open, there were no buildings as such. The enemy was mainly in fortifications: they were buried under concrete slabs. They weren't expecting us at Peschanoe — they came unexpectedly for the enemy. They were already waiting in Gerasimovka: a lot of "birds" (drones. — Ed.). The weather was on our side — there was fog," said a stormtrooper with the call sign Ataman.

On December 15, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the liberation of the village of Peschanoe in the Dnipropetrovsk region creates conditions for further assault operations by the Russian army. As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 20 heavy hexacopters of the Baba Yaga type, as well as seven pieces of equipment.

The liberation of the village of Peschanoe became known earlier that day. It was noted that the Ukrainian militants lost more than 240 fighters, eight vehicles, an artillery piece, two electronic warfare stations and two warehouses of materiel in these battles.

The Russian Armed Forces liberated the village of Gerasimovka on December 17. In addition, Russian military personnel defeated the manpower and equipment of a mechanized assault brigade, three enemy assault regiments, and a defense brigade in the areas of the settlements of Andreevka, Gavrilovka, Dnipropetrovsk region, Ternovatoe, Gulyai-Pole, and Kosovtsevo in the Zaporizhia region.
