The Federal Antimonopoly Service will check the cost of air tickets during the New Year holidays

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) will check the cost of air tickets during the New Year holidays. This was reported to Izvestia by the press service of the antimonopoly authority on December 19.

"The service has organized monitoring of the cost of air tickets in economy class for domestic transportation during the New Year holidays on 302 routes. These data are sent weekly to relevant departments to develop economic regulatory measures, including increasing commercial aircraft loading on routes with increased demand," the antimonopoly authority said.

At the same time, they noted that the service comprehensively monitors the compliance of airlines with antimonopoly legislation in order to prevent an unjustified increase in the cost of air tickets. If a significant increase in the cost of air tickets is detected according to monitoring data, the agency analyzes the expenses and incomes of airlines separately for each destination.

The service also analyzes the compliance of the provisions of the adopted commercial policies with the sale of airline tickets for flights. Currently, the FAS of Russia has sent a request for information to airlines on a number of routes. In case of detection of signs of abuse of the dominant position by airlines, the service will promptly take measures to respond.
