Every third patient with arrhythmia is admitted to a cardiology hospital for diagnosis. This was announced on December 18 by the Director of the A.V. Vishnevsky National Medical Research Center for Surgery, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Amiran Revishvili.

"As for arrhythmology, unfortunately, every person on the planet has some kind of arrhythmia. Thank God they're not life-threatening. But every third person ends up in a cardiology hospital, and these conditions are being diagnosed there," Revishvili said at the opening of the AMICS 2025 conference, RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He noted that of the 560,000 heart surgeries performed annually in Russia, 67% are percutaneous coronary interventions, 21% are interventional arrhythmology (over 107 thousand procedures), and 13% are cardiac surgery.

On November 18, doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov warned on his Telegram channel about the high risks associated with taking blood-thinning drugs and called on the Russian Ministry of Health to ban their use without strict indications. Myasnikov added that blood thinning drugs can be prescribed only in cases of serious diseases such as atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis, strokes and oncological diseases.
