The partner channel of the special services is currently almost the only link for interaction between Russia and European countries in today's diplomatic conditions. This was announced on December 18 by Sergey Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).

When asked whether Moscow believes that the approaches of the EU special services have more common sense than those of European politicians, the head of the SVR said that "the approaches of the special services generally coincide with the policies of their states."

"But in conditions where even diplomatic relations are excluded due to the situation, the partner channel is practically the only link of interaction between states," he said in a conversation with TASS.

According to him, the corresponding channel operates between different countries and special services, as well as in different volumes, depending on the level of their relations and the tasks facing the intelligence services of each state.

In July, French Foreign intelligence chief Nicolas Lerner reported that French President Emmanuel Macron had asked the head of French intelligence to keep in touch with Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Director Naryshkin. He also noted that he had the opportunity to personally talk to Naryshkin on the phone several times.
