Nikolai Strelkov, a traumatologist at the Klin Hospital, told how to protect yourself from fractures in icy conditions. According to him, you should go outside in shoes with fluted soles, give up heels and walk in small steps with slightly bent knees.

The doctor noted that it is better to choose sections of the road treated with sand or deicing reagents. He explained that when falling, it is important to group up, protect your head and not put your arms forward to reduce the risk of fractures.

Strelkov stressed that cold and an elastic bandage help with bruises, and in case of severe pain or joint deformity, you should immediately contact the emergency room, which does not require documents, Radio 1 reported on Thursday, December 18.

The traumatologist added that women are most often injured in icy conditions, which is associated with a decrease in calcium levels with age and increased bone fragility. Fractures of the radius and ankles are the most common.

On the eve of the "yellow" weather danger level due to icy conditions was extended in Moscow until Saturday evening, December 20. In the Moscow region, a similar warning will be in effect until 09:00 on December 20.

In November, orthopedic traumatologist Konstantin Ternovoy told RT in an interview that in icy conditions it is necessary to look carefully at your feet, not be distracted by your phone and choose winter shoes with fluted soles. According to him, the fall on the ice happens very quickly, and even physically prepared people may not have time to group up. 360.ru .

Earlier, Ternovoy noted that it is necessary to choose a path with solid reagents and with the least ice coating, writes NSN.
