Rosneft summed up the results of the IT marathon
During 2025, Rosneft held seven IT competitions, including three information modeling contests, an Additive Technologies and Reverse Engineering Cup, a Student hackathon, an Academic tournament and a Geonavigation League, the company's press service said.
More than 900 specialists representing 71 cities, 92 universities and 80 companies took part in the events. The total prize fund of the competition was 4.5 million rubles.
"We have seen the best practices of using information models, additive technologies, and computer vision. We traditionally invite the best participants to internships and work in the company's perimeter, where they receive all the opportunities for career growth in the oil and gas industry," said Vladimir Surtaev, Deputy Director of Rosneft's Scientific and Technical Development and Innovation Department.
All the competitions this year were of great interest from the professional community. Thus, more than 100 students from 17 cities took part in the Additive Technologies Cup, the Student Hackathon brought together more than 340 participants from 45 localities, and this year the Geonavigation League brought together more than 300 professionals and students from more than 100 universities and organizations.
"The main reason for participating in the Geonavigation League is to test your skills. Every year the tasks become more difficult, and the level of the players themselves increases. This year, the organizers have prepared geological conditions that I have never seen before in my work, and added accounting for the distance from the chisel to the sensors, which complicated the task and brought it closer to reality," commented Alexey Starostin, Chief Specialist of NOVATEK's geonavigation Department.
"This is the third time I have participated in the Geonavigation League. This is the only event where you can compete with representatives of our profession from all over Russia, test your strength and skills in drilling. Of particular interest are non—standard tasks that I have never encountered in my work, but it is possible that you will encounter more," said Denis Bazhin, Chief geonavigation Specialist at Gazpromneft-Khantos.
Since 2019, Rosneft has held 24 competitions, involving more than 7,500 participants from 13 countries and 140 cities.
