The main New Year's Tree was lit in St. Petersburg

The forest beauty was traditionally decorated in retro style. 52 snowmen, 51 nutcrackers, 50 huts, 46 balloons, 45 candies and 40 horses were hung on the Christmas tree. The figures were connected by garlands of 350 flags and hundreds of meters of LED strips.

The tree itself was cut down in the Koporsky forestry and delivered to the Northern capital last week. The symbol of the New Year will stand in the city center until January 15th.

Earlier in December, it was reported that St. Petersburg had proposed extending the interval for launching fireworks by adding another hour to it. At the moment, it is legal to launch fireworks only from 23:00 on December 31 to 4:00 on January 1.
