Naryshkin pointed to the increase in desertion in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Cases of desertion have become more frequent in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was announced on December 18 by Sergey Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
"Some of the Ukrainian military personnel are demoralized, and the phenomenon of desertion is gaining momentum," TASS quoted him as saying.
He also pointed out that the Ukrainian army is suffering huge losses in both manpower and equipment.
On December 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the Ukrainian statehood and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are deteriorating, as can be seen from the "golden toilets", as well as the increasing cases of desertion. According to the head of state, over 100,000 criminal cases have been initiated in Ukraine, while the number of deserters is estimated at hundreds of thousands in total.
