PSG sold out all Safonov's T-shirts after winning the Intercontinental Cup
The French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has completely sold out T-shirts with the name of Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov in a few hours. On December 18, the club's official online store completely lacks T-shirts with the goalkeeper's name.
On the website, in the "Player products" section, there are T-shirts of all the team's players, except for the jersey with Safonov's number and surname. The cost of one such T-shirt starts from $105.
The increased demand for paraphernalia with the name of the Russian goalkeeper followed PSG's victory in the Intercontinental Cup final the day before. In the decisive penalty shootout against Brazilian Flamengo, Safonov deflected four shots in a row, which was a historic achievement and brought the French club victory and the sixth trophy this year.
On the same day, the official account of the FIFA World Cup in the social network X (ex. Twitter) praised Safonov's performance in the Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo. The message says that "Safonov is a real boss!". Later, his photo was posted on the main page of the official website of the PSG club.
Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, congratulated the goalkeeper and called Safonov the true heir of Lev Yashin. Coach Yuri Semin said that the outstanding performance of the Russian PSG goalkeeper is the result of his hard work.
