Russia may introduce mandatory registration of domestic cats and dogs
In Russia, I can introduce mandatory registration of cats and dogs from September 1, 2026. This was reported on December 18 by the Parliamentary Newspaper with reference to the bill submitted to the State Duma (State Duma).
"They suggested labeling pets with collars, tags or microchips — at the owner's choice. Registration will be free of charge through the Federal State Information System in the field of veterinary medicine — FGIS "VetIS". To register or de—register, you will need the owner's passport and information about the animal — its origin, health status, vaccinations," the material says.
The proposed initiative contains wording on the mandatory registration of all pets, however, as the newspaper reported, representatives of the Parliament mentioned only cats and dogs.
Ekaterina Smolitskaya, a veterinarian and product manager at VIC Group, listed dangerous treats for animals during the New Year holidays. She added fatty meats, smoked meats, salads with mayonnaise and sausage to this list. Feeding such a delicacy can lead to problems with the pancreas in an animal.
