Orban announced Hungary's refusal to finance Ukraine
Hungary will not participate in financing the Ukrainian conflict. This was announced on December 18 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on his page on the social network X (former. Twitter).
"There will be no shortage of arrogance today. [Brussels] bureaucrats swear that we will not be allowed to return home until the issue of financing Ukraine is resolved [at the EU summit in Brussels]. We Hungarians will not participate in this and will stay here as long as necessary," Orban wrote, commenting on the EU summit.
He also called the EU leadership "arrogant" because of the four-year consideration of Serbia's application to join the union. At the same time, the EU leadership did not see any problems for Ukraine's accession.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced on December 17 that if the frozen assets of the Russian Federation are withdrawn from the Euroclear financial depository in Brussels, the EU may begin this process in other countries. According to Meloni, currently her country has not yet decided on its position regarding the seizure of assets of the Russian Federation.
On November 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the confiscation of Russian assets located in the European Union would have negative consequences. In addition, the Russian government, on behalf of the Russian leader, is developing a package of retaliatory measures.
