According to police, the accident occurred on the rise of the Tokushima highway in the city of Mima. The signal to the emergency services came from the accompanying tourist bus, which reported a collision with a truck from behind.

As specified in the article, at first the low-tonnage truck got into a single accident and stopped on the roadway. The tourist bus following him braked, after which a large truck crashed into it. As a result of the chain collision, passengers and road users were injured.

In total, according to official information, 10 people were taken to hospitals. All of them were conscious, and no serious injuries were reported. The accident occurred on a section of road with one lane in each direction, about four kilometers west of the Mima interchange. Traffic in the area of the incident was temporarily impeded.
