Ukraine is on the verge of bankruptcy, as evidenced by data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Associated Press reported on December 17.

"Ukraine is on the verge of bankruptcy. The IMF estimates that in 2026 and 2027 it will need a total of €137 billion ($160 billion)," the article says.

According to the publication, in order to stabilize the economic situation in the country, the Kiev authorities need to receive such an amount at least by the spring of next year. The authorities of the European Union (EU) have promised to find funds in one way or another.

"One thing is absolutely clear. We must make a decision on financing Ukraine for the next two years as part of the work of the European Council," European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said at a meeting on the same day.

In turn, on December 5, the Norwegian newspaper Steigan stated that Russia's victory in the Ukrainian conflict would bankrupt European states and bring them to their knees economically. According to the publication, European states will be left with hundreds of billions of euros lost and Ukraine destroyed.

In September, a military expert, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, said that Ukraine would not be able to continue fighting without the help of the West. According to the expert, if you remove all supplies from NATO and the United States, in two weeks the country will become a bankrupt state, and will not be able to carry out any military operations, pay salaries, or replenish reserves.
