Interest in learning Russian in China is constantly increasing, and over the past five years the number of students has grown by an average of 7% per year. This was reported by the Xinhua news Agency on December 17.

Russian Russian language learners in China have increased by an average of 7% annually over the past five years, mainly due to an increase in the number of Chinese universities that have included Russian in their majors," the publication says.

According to data from May last year, approximately 90,000 schoolchildren and students in Russia study Chinese. According to Xinhua, over the past five years, the number of students from China who study at Russian universities has almost doubled, and last year their number reached 56 thousand people.

The article emphasizes that more and more applicants from Russia are choosing China for higher education — last year, about 21 thousand Russian citizens studied in China. According to the agency, the total number of Chinese and Russian exchange students is expected to reach 100,000 by 2030.

The universities of the two countries were also able to create 14 associations of specialized universities, covering more than 600 universities, which helped to form the world's largest network of bilateral cooperation. According to Xinhua, the Chinese Ministry of Education has registered more than 200 joint Chinese-Russian educational programs and 35 joint educational institutions, and the MSU-SPI University in Shenzhen has become a key project.

In addition, Russia and China are also developing cooperation in the field of culture. During this year's Spring Festival, the Chinese Embassy in Russia, together with the Moscow government and Chinese companies operating in Russia, organized the Chinese New Year Festival, and hundreds of events were held in the capital as part of the event.

It is noted that the Russian Federation and China held more than 400 events, including exhibitions of cultural relics, film screenings, theatrical productions, exchanges in the field of cultural and creative activities of youth and much more.

On November 14, Izvestia got acquainted with the results of the Avito Services study, according to which the Chinese language is becoming increasingly popular among residents of Russia. According to the survey, 12% of Russians plan to start learning Chinese in 2026, and another 65% consider it the most promising language in the next five years, along with English.
