The Moscow garrison military court has sentenced Vladimir Demchik, the former head of the Russian Defense Ministry's clothing department, to seven years in prison in a bribery case. This was reported to Izvestia on December 17 by one of the participants in the trial.
He clarified that Demchik was stripped of his rank and received a fine of 3 million rubles.
The court also stopped the prosecution of the second person involved in the case, Alexander Svistunov, General Director of JSC Knyaginskaya Sewing Factory, and he was released from criminal liability. Earlier, Svistunov confessed.
On January 21, the investigative actions in the criminal case against Demchik were completed. Based on the investigation data, the defendants are accused of receiving and giving large-scale bribes (paragraphs "b", "c" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code and paragraph "b" of part 4 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code), that is, no more than 1 million rubles.
A military court arrested Demchik on suspicion of accepting a bribe in August 2024. At that time, it was reported that in the spring of 2017, the CEO of one of the companies wanted to resolve the issue of involving government contracts for supplies for the needs of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with his assistance and handed him a bribe. It also became known about the initiation of a criminal case against Svistunov on October 11, 2024. He is accused of paying a bribe for the opportunity to fulfill a state contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
