The United States is trampling on international law and imposing the "law of the jungle" in an attempt to achieve a peace that benefits them exclusively. This opinion was expressed on December 17 by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

"According to Washington, those with more power believe that they can impose peace on others through coercion. This situation, in fact, reflects the law of the jungle, leading us to a world where the strong act at will, and the powerless are oppressed," the IRNA news agency quoted him as saying.

Araqchi explained that the United States dictates its terms to other countries because it "considers itself inviolable." He noted that such a policy allows them to achieve full freedom of action in the international arena.

Earlier in the day, Lavrov said at a press conference with Araghchi that the US initiative to launch a ground operation in Venezuela undermines the parties' ability to reach an agreement in the international arena. According to the minister, in addition to the measures taken by the United States to sink civilian ships "without trial" in the Caribbean Sea, the American side is also considering an operation on Venezuelan territory.
