In the Marshall Islands, for the first time in the world, the authorities will pay $200 per quarter to all residents. This was reported on December 17 by The Guardian newspaper.

"The Marshall Islands has introduced the national Universal Basic Income (UBI) program, which offers payments in cryptocurrency along with more traditional methods," the article says.

The aim of the program is to reduce the impact of rising living costs on local residents. The first payment was made at the end of November, and residents can choose the method of receiving funds: through a bank account, by check, or in the form of cryptocurrency.

David Paul, the islands' Finance minister, noted that the government is committed to making sure that no one is left without support. It is specified that the amount of payments of about $ 800 per year helps to improve people's morale.

The Daily Mail newspaper reported on November 29 that the Scottish authorities had warned that Ukrainian refugees could become homeless after canceling payments to local residents who had sheltered them. According to the newspaper, about 28,000 Ukrainians have found refuge in Scotland since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine. Previously, the Conservative government paid British families 500 pounds per month.
