David Barnea, head of the Israeli foreign intelligence service Mossad, expressed the opinion that Tehran has not abandoned its desire to create nuclear weapons, and this creates the prospect of a repeat clash in the Middle East. This was reported by Bloomberg on December 17.

"The idea of continuing to develop a nuclear bomb still lives in their (Iranians') minds. — Ed.) hearts," the agency quotes Barnea as saying.

The intelligence director added that Israel's main task is to prevent the restart of the Iranian Fordo nuclear facility, which was attacked by the United States and Israel in June this year.

On November 19, the American leader Donald Trump announced that Iran wants to conclude a deal with the United States. He also clarified that he is fully open to a deal and is negotiating with Iran.

Prior to that, on October 29, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said that the organization does not have and did not have information about Iran's creation of nuclear weapons. According to Grossi, Tehran has confirmed its readiness to remain within the framework of the nuclear non-proliferation regime, despite Western sanctions. In addition, he stressed that the republic does not enrich uranium, which is necessary to create nuclear weapons.
