- Cosmetologist warned about the risks of an "emergency transformation" for the New Year
By the end of the year, many people are trying to manage not only to close work issues, but also to dramatically transform themselves for the holidays. However, December is not the best time for radical experiments with appearance and health. It is safer to postpone large-scale changes to January, and limit yourself to soft, predictable measures by the New Year. Elena Ilchuk, cosmetologist and chief physician of the Elevans Aesthetic Cosmetology clinic, told Izvestia on December 25.
As the specialist noted, in December, the body is already working in a high-stress mode due to stress, deadlines and lack of sleep. In such conditions, the skin becomes more sensitive, healing slows down, and the risk of exacerbation of chronic conditions increases.
"Any new aggressive procedure or strict regime during this period is superimposed on the existing load and increases the risk of adverse reactions," she explained.
The doctor advises to take special care when planning median peels, laser procedures and volumetric injections. After such interventions, redness, swelling and peeling can persist for up to two weeks, and bruises after injections can take even longer. If you do such procedures a few days before the holiday, there is a high risk of meeting the New Year with pronounced swelling or uneven skin relief, which are difficult to hide with makeup. Against the background of lack of sleep and alcohol, these effects only increase.
Another risk area is attempts to lose weight urgently by December 31. Drastic calorie restriction and intense exercise are perceived by the body as stress, which leads to fatigue, decreased immunity and frequent breakdowns. Instead of the desired slimness, a person often gets weakness, irritability and weight fluctuations as early as January, Ilchuk said.
"In December, it is wiser not to stage a revolution, but to focus on basic steps.: adjust your sleep schedule, avoid skipping meals, add water, reduce sugar and alcohol a little, and choose habitual care procedures with minimal rehabilitation," the expert said.
According to her, the most effective scenario in cosmetology always begins with a face-to-face consultation, where the doctor evaluates the skin condition, lifestyle and related diseases, and then selects a step-by-step plan of care and procedures. This should not be a one-time event for the holiday, but a well-thought-out program adapted to a specific person.
On December 14, nutritionist and nutritionist Sofya Kovanova told how to avoid overeating at the New Year's table. She recommended starting the meal with a vegetable salad with butter and lemon juice, after which you can gradually try the rest of the dishes.
