The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated its unequivocal position on the Ukrainian crisis
Attempts by EU countries to get closer to China and put pressure on the United States will not affect China's policy on Ukraine. This was announced on December 17 by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun.
"China's position on the Ukrainian crisis has always been consistent and unambiguous. China has consistently pursued an independent and peaceful foreign policy," TASS quoted the diplomat as saying.
The Chinese representative also stated the peaceful direction of China's policy on the issue of the Ukrainian crisis and expressed the hope that all parties would promote dialogue "in order to reach a just, sustainable and binding peace agreement as soon as possible."
Earlier in the day, Guo Jiakun said that the Chinese authorities are against the unilateral decision of the European Union (EU) to use frozen assets of Russia. He also added that the parties should work together to create favorable conditions for advancing peace negotiations and a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
The Euractiv portal reported on December 15 that seven EU states do not support the idea of confiscating Russian assets under sanctions. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 27 that the confiscation of Russian assets located in the European Union would have negative consequences. He instructed the Russian government to develop a package of retaliatory measures.
